About Joshua

I am lived experienced clinician. Meaning, I truly empathize and understand the experience of my client’s who have struggled with their relationship with food, their compulsions, and behaviors to find relief. My style begins with curiosity, most importantly, I want to learn about you and your story. I utilize active and reflective listening to highlight themes and patterns within the subconscious, ultimately broadening your self- knowledge and inner healing. One of my favorite parts of what I do is tailoring sessions to meet your specific needs and goals. Healing is an everyday choice and I am here to encourage that choice.

Life sometimes throws us curve balls and allowing space to process these curve balls is an integral part of my therapeutic process. Moreover, I believe in a holistic approach utilizing interventions derived from mindfulness in addition to support from psychotropic medications when necessary.

I specialize in Eating Disorders, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Depression, and Relationship Issues, among other areas while implementing a variety of techniques in my sessions. I have received training and studied several evidenced-based modalities including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. I am also knowledgeable of Intuitive Eating ideologies and  I am Health At Every Size (HAES) and All Foods Fit aligned clinician.

I have substantial experience providing therapy to individuals in inpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization (PHP/IOP) levels of care for eating disorders, as well as in outpatient and community mental health settings working with individuals with severe mental illness (SMI).

Background

In addition to providing therapy, I have presented at the University level discussing the health impacts of Eating Disorders towards adolescents, men, and the LGBTQIA+ community. I have also developed group curriculum for adult and adolescent eating disorder and mental health treatment programs.

I hold a Masters in Social Work degree from Azusa Pacific University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Chapman University.  I was drawn to psychotherapy due to my natural inclination as a healer. I also thoroughly enjoy learning about different spiritual and religious teachings, symbolism, and astrology and would love to discuss how it may help in the therapeutic space.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. I am here to help!
